X-Ray

X-Ray Services at Dr. Gabhe’s Bones & Joints Clinic

When someone walks into our clinic with pain in their knee, back, or after a fall, one of the first things we often need to do is get a clear picture of what’s going on inside. That’s where an X-ray comes in. It’s a simple, quick, and non-invasive way for us to see what’s happening with your bones and joints. Whether you’ve got a suspected fracture, joint stiffness, or you’re recovering from surgery, an X-ray helps us decide the right course of action.

Why We Rely on X-Rays

X-rays are something we use every day in orthopedic care. They help us confirm or rule out a fracture, see early signs of arthritis, or understand why someone’s been in pain for a long time. If your child fell and hurt their arm, or if your parent’s been having difficulty walking due to knee pain, we usually start with an X-ray. It tells us if there’s a break, a misalignment, a worn-out joint, or something else we need to look into further. We also use X-rays after surgery or plaster removal to make sure things are healing properly. Sometimes, they show us everything is fine. Other times, they alert us that we need to step in and make changes early. Either way, they help us avoid guessing and treat with clarity.

How the X-Ray Process Works Here

We’ve kept the process simple and in-house. That means you don’t have to run around to other diagnostic centres. Everything is done at our clinic itself. Once I or one of the doctors recommends an X-ray, our technician will take over. You’ll be guided on what needs to be removed (like a watch, chain, or belt), and then you’ll be positioned based on the area that needs imaging. It doesn’t hurt, it’s usually done in under 10 minutes, and the images are ready almost immediately. Once it’s done, I’ll sit with you and explain what we see on the scan—without using complicated jargon.

Our Equipment

We use digital X-rays, which are quicker and safer than the older systems. The radiation levels are low, and the image quality is clear. This helps us make better decisions, faster. Since it’s all digital, we can store the images in your file, send them to other specialists if needed, or refer back to them during your follow-up visits.

Common Reasons We Advise an X-Ray

We’ll typically suggest an X-ray in these situations:
  • You’ve had a recent fall or injury
  • You have unexplained joint or back pain
  • You’re coming in for a post-op review
  • You’re a young athlete with frequent sports-related aches
  • Your joints are feeling stiff, and we suspect arthritis
Even if it’s something minor, it helps to be sure. Many patients say they feel relieved once they know exactly what’s going on, even if it’s just a mild sprain or age-related wear.
